Source Title: A VOYAGE ROUND GREAT BRITAIN UNDERTAKEN IN THE YEAR 1814
Source Sub-Title: Published by Longman & Co Pasternoster Row London and William Daniell 9 Cleveland Fitzroy Square London. Issued in 8 Vols. over the Years 1814 to 25.
Author: William Daniell and Richard Ayton
Notes:

William Daniels, responsible for the views, started at Lands End for the first print records views going round Great Britain and finished as the last print Lands End.

This Series is perhaps the most attractive. All are aquatints coloured by printing inks with small amount of hand colouring together with a pretty grey wash border. Collectors beware as the plates were still in existence and in the market up to 20 years ago when the Tate Gallery acquired them for one final printing.

The restrikes over the years were always printed in the black and white and later hand coloured which against the original drab colours is difficult to reproduce however a bigger give-away is the wide wash border. Very rarely is it skilfully done and I have never seen the exact shade of grey as originally used. The prints were usually laid down (glued on a piece of card) so the paper could not be examined. Not all views were printed but print dealers could put in orders for the ones they found were popular.
